Residential Sewer Line and Drain Service FAQs

Our home sewer lines and drain systems are out of sight and out of mind, meaning we don’t always know whether they’re in good working order. Whether you have questions about residential sewer repair, a sewer line camera inspection, or sewer and drain cleaning, Mr. Rooter Plumbing is here to answer them. We’ve also answered some of our more commonly asked questions below.

  • Plumbers can clear drain clogs in multiple different ways, depending on the cause of the clog, how big it is, where it is, and various other factors. Clearing drain clogs can sometimes require these approaches:

    1. Inspecting the Drain
Before carrying out plumbing and sewer repair services, plumbers typically inspect the drain to see if they can spot the problem. They can sometimes visually inspect the drain but will also often use a sewer inspection camera with locator functionality to find potential clogs deep down in drain pipes.

    2. Drain Snaking
If you have a drain clog featuring soft materials like soap scum, hair, and food, your chosen plumber may use a long drain snake. While it’s a typical home clog-clearing method, it’s also one that plumbers rely on! These drain snakes, also known as augers, can burrow into clogs and pull them out to have your drains flowing freely once more.

    3. Hydro Jetting
Hydro jetting involves the use of high-pressure water to clear tough clogs. Here at Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we provide HydroScrub® Jetting services to tackle slow-draining water and drain clogs. Our drain cleaning solution involves a large water tank, a high-pressure hose, a high-strength nozzle, and 3500 PSI of pressure to deal with solid and soft clogs.

    4. Pipe Removal
Some clogs can be so stubborn that removal with drain snakes and hydro jetting isn’t always possible. In that case, your chosen plumber may recommend pipe removal. This involves removing the section of the pipe with the clog and replacing it with a new section.
