Trenchless Sewer Line Repair
There’s little doubt that a broken sewer line is one of the worst things that can happen to your plumbing system. It’s gross, messy, damaging, and can even threaten the health of your family. But the cure is a nightmare too—digging a huge, muddy trench to access broken pipes causes devastation to your landscaping that can take years to repair.
Fortunately, there’s a better way! Mr. Rooter uses trenchless sewer line repair techniques that, as you would expect, eliminate the need to dig a costly, time-consuming, and damaging trench. The type of trenchless repair needed will vary depending on the type of pipes and the extent of the damage, but two potential solutions are pipe relining and hydraulic bursting.
Relining involves coating the inside of the pipe with a “sleeve” that hardens within a few hours, sealing up any small cracks or gaps in the pipe and extending its life considerably. Bursting is a method in which a very damaged pipe can be further broken up with the use of hydraulics so a brand-new pipe can be inserted into the space left behind.
In both cases, it only necessary to dig two small holes in the yard that are easily filled in and covered over, saving you money and time—in fact, Mr. Rooter is often able to to complete a trenchless sewer line repair within a single day.
Water Heater Repair and Installations
Have you ever gotten in the shower expecting a long-lasting deluge of hot water, only to find that it turns cold halfway through? When your heater doesn't seem to provide as much hot water as it used to, that's a sign that it is struggling and needs repair.
Other symptoms of a broken heater include:
- Takes a long time to heat water
- Strange noises from the tank, like dripping or gurgling
- Tank is leaking water
- There's grit and sediment in your hot water (but not the cold)
- Visible rust or corrosion on the tank
Like anything else, water heaters don't last forever. They need to be replaced about every 11 to 20 years, based on factors like the frequency of use and the water hardness. When it comes time to replace your heater, consider which type will be best for your home:
- Conventional: a large tank is constantly heating water
- Tankless water heater: pulls cold water through the pipe and heats it on-demand before it exits the tap
- Hybrid: combines a tank storage system with a heat pump
Depending on the option you choose, a new heater can save between seven and 60 percent of your water heating costs.
